newborn Swedish kitchen sofa, before and after

I was looking for an antique Swedish kitchenbench (a koksoffa), and finally I found one!
It was standing at a white house in the beautiful green surroudings of Dordrecht, overlooking the fields. The sofa was in use as a garden sofa under the porch of a friendly artistic lady who had lived in Sweden and moved back to The Netherlands again.
This weekend I rubbed off all the sand and dirt, sanded it carefully and painted it again in a soft light blue.

I loved the idea: it has been in a Swedish kitchen and used as a bed, it has been used a rabbithouse, the lid has disappeared somewhere in the last decades, someone made a new lid on it, and in the end it was bought by the Dutch family and used in the garden. Now I give it back it's original purpose: as a sofa at my kitchen table. When I'm working at that table my cat lies beside me.

 Before, it looked like this:

Second day there was some rain, so I had to hurry inside to paint. Luckily my cat dislikes the smell of paint, so she didn't sit on it.
I made a large pillow to sit on and now all I have to enjoy!
